Brandy and wine have always shared equally in popularity among fans of good spirits in Serbia. Brandy, a strong alcoholic drink, stands side by side with wine at the end of the 19th century. century, when vineyards destroyed by phylloxera were replaced by orchards.
The abandonment of these areas by all conquerors was celebrated with brandy, so it became a symbol of victory and freedom. With it, you went to battle, you were brave, you attacked, you could see the wounds… In times of peace, brandy was used to improve the mood, celebrate and grieve.
It is most often made from plums, but natural brandies from quince, pear, apricot, apple, grape are gaining more and more popularity.
