Suri
A new era in Serbian wine-gastronomy began when Radomir Veličković, the great master of hospitality, put his ingenious idea into action. On the Kopaonik mountain (or Kopanik, as he traditionally calls it), on the roof of the world, he opened the ethno-restaurant “Suri”. Located in the immediate vicinity of the beginning of the Karaman Reef, it aroused great interest among guests. He chose the date 12/12/1993 to start work. g, and the opening itself was marked by the burning of flames in the restaurant’s hearth.
Everything in this unusual temple of hospitality looked like a fairy tale. Cupbearers, Keepers of the Fire, Redcoats and Wardens were “flying” around the distinguished guests. Dishes and drinks with completely original names were served, prepared according to Rade’s recipes, aligned with SURI standards.
The fire burned in the hearth for exactly 3664 days, as long as the restaurant was open. But even then it was not extinguished, but was transferred from the hearth to a lamp, and then to Belgrade, where the legend continued to live.
