BUILDING HERITAGE

Centuries ago, all over Serbia, winegrowers built special houses outside of populated areas that served as wine cellars, as a place for short rest, food preparation and tool storage. Narrow streets lined up between the houses and flowed towards the square in the center of the settlement. Vine-growing settlements with such architecture still exist today in Rajac, Aleksandrovac and Velika Hoča.

From the wine cellars of the monastery, guardians of centuries-old Serbian tradition and heritage, famous wines and brandies still go out into the world today. The most famous are those from Hilandar, Bukovo, Studenica and Koporin.
