Upon completion of his doctoral studies in Vienna in 1867. . Đorđe Radić became the first doctor of agricultural sciences in Serbia. He participated in the restoration and founding of the first agricultural schools as well as the Serbian Agricultural Society. He was the editor of the magazines “Seljak”, “Težak” and “Domaćin”, but also the author of a large number of books and scientific studies.
